Ginger by Drew Strouble
Ah! The warmth of the sun on the belly of a napping, contented Tabby ... bliss! This is a great example of using "artistic license" when creating a work of art. In my photo reference for this painting, the cat, Ginger, was completely in the shadow area of the photo with the light from the window way to the right of her. I'm sure that she fell asleep in the light which moved as time passed. I chose to put her back into the light to create a more interesting composition and story. Here's the results of making that choice.
"There are people who reshape the world by force or argument, but the cat just lies there, dozing, and the world quietly reshapes itself to suit his comfort and convenience." Allen and Ivy Dodd

"Dear Mr. Strouble, I just purchased "Ginger" and "Quiet Trust" ... (and) wanted to tell you how much pleasure they have given me. Sometimes I find myself just gazing at "Ginger" and the feeling is one of
such calm. Thank you for sharing you talent." A Fan,
